Character Traits of the IBMYP Program
Emily Dickinson = Open-Minded, Communicator and Thinker
Emily Dickinson is a very open-minded communicator and thinker. It would be very beneficial if her poetry was taught in the IBYMP program and if it was part of the curriculum as well. Her poetry sets great examples of what open-minded thinkers are; and how you have to think everything thoroughly for one to make a piece of poetry. Her poems set a great example, for others. As well as that her poems represent deep thoughts, and excellent metaphors and similes. Her perspective of seeing things is very unique and takes quite a bit of thinking to actually understand what is actually going on in the poem.
Open-Minded:
Emily is a very open-minded person, she loves accepting new ideas, and always has had a curiosity, of finding new ways to explore her thoughts. Her poems help represent who she actually is and shows that she is a very open-minded person, and is always full of new ideas. In her poem called "If You Were Coming In The Fall" she showed many different ways to represnt, how much she anticipated waiting for that one person to came back as soon as possible. If she were part of the IB curriculum, it would give the students an idea to what open-minded thinkers are, and how they show that they are, by creating new ideas, seeing things in a whole different perspective, and it's like being in 2 different worlds at once.
Communicator & Thinker:
Emily is not only an amazing open-minded thinker, but she is also a creative communicator and thinker. She has an exceptional talent of seeing things in such a detailed perspective, whatever she sees through her mind or eyes, the way she communicates it is just indescribable Like in her untitled poem, where she described the sunset, she was describing the sun, as the world awakening from its long sleep; although it does take a few minutes to analyze and think thoroughly about what she is talking about, because at first it's a bit hard to understand, but this poem is one of those pieces of poetry, which should be taught in the IBYMP so students know how to use metaphors in poetry. Her poems prove that she is not only an open-minded person, but also an excellent communicator and thinker.
The poems Emily Dickinson, talks about are based on many things. Her poems prove that she is a good thinker, a principled, an open-minded person and a very good communicator. Emily has written over 1500 poems in her whole lifetime, short and long, but Emily too believed in the saying "its quality that matters, not quantity" ,most all of her poems describe a deep thought. So if Emily was in the IBMYP
